Character Analysis
& Movement Psychology

Movement Psychology or ‘Character Analysis’ is the product of a 50 year study of human expression, conducted initially by Rudolph Laban in collaboration with William Carpenter - and completed by Yat Malmgren.

It offers a profound system for categorising and understanding human expression, which may be utilised by actors, directors, writers, creative thinkers - people who want to explore it in-depth, and learn how to use it to expand their capacity to transform.

It was taught by Yat Malmgren and Christopher Fettes, co-founders of Drama Centre, London, to generations of actors. It is a core part of our advanced training courses, here at GFCA.

Character Analysis

Giles Foreman is a leading contemporary exponent in the UK, USA, and across Europe, having further developed the teaching, in collaboration with Christopher Fettes, and other expert colleagues, over more than fifteen years,

Giles’ workshops involve the progressive unfolding of all the elements of the technique, in 4 stages – alongside opportunities to embody what has been covered, through practical exploration and in especially-developed acting exercises.
