The English Code Workshop

Soften or shift your accent in English with this 3-day course taught by Lindsay Richardson. If you are an experienced actor, looking to refine your skills, this supportive and informative workshop will give you the skills you need to perfect your English clarity, prepare for auditions or showcases, or jumpstart your path to international acting work. 

Lindsay Richardson is a native UK-English voice and singing coach. She has taught voice and audition technique at the Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in London since 2012, and is known for precise, encouraging coaching that turns technical sound-work into confident, natural performance.

 What you’ll explore:

  • Principles of voice: anglo vowels, consonants, ‘music’ and intent

  • Connection, subtext, spontaneity, and vocal confidence

Theo von Bomhard is Head of Acting at GFCA Paris. Trained at Drama Studio London and by Jack Waltzer (lifelong Member of the Actors Studio) for over 15 years, he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Performance Teaching from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as a Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education from Harvard. He is known for coaching that is exacting, generous, and focused on truthful, screen-ready performance.

 An Actor’s Playground: A Movement-Based Approach to Character

Learn the movement approach that trained Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Emilia Clarke, and countless others. This 3-day hands-on, playful movement workshop takes you through celebrated movement specialist Liana Nyquist’s 5-part approach to develop physical instinct and the truth of their character, all through movement. It is open to actors at any stage who are looking to develop their movement awareness. 

Liana Nyquist studied at the Drama Centre London and then became the assistant to the founder of the Drama Centre Dr Yat Malmgren, in the Laban analysis of character movement. As a Movement Director in the theatre she has extensive experience working with numerous directors in a varied repertoire: classical, contemporary, farce and beyond. As a Movement Specialist, she coaches actors in both TV and Film. Liana is a lecturer at CSM, College of Arts and Design, University of the Arts, lecturing across the MA and BA courses. She is Head of Movement at the Drama Centre. 

 What you’ll explore:

  • Letting space become an active partner in your performance

  • How to uncover your character’s essential identity through rhythm and motion

It’s All in the Pitch: A 7-day Pitching Intensive

How do you pitch your idea to get it made? It’s not as simple as having a good idea, it’s being able to sell that idea. BAFTA-winning writer Dana Fainru shows you how it’s done in this 7-day intensive workshop. You’ll learn the art of building the pitch – from concept, logline, story and deck – followed by three days of live rehearsal, including a first full pitch round with structured peer and tutor feedback. The experience will culminate in a mock-pitch round to the group or invited guests, revised and delivered a second time. And you’ll walk away with next steps to take your story from idea to reality. 

Dana Fainaru is a BAFTA-winning writer and executive producer, and a graduate of the BBC Writers' Academy and Drama Centre London. She was Lead Writer on Casualty and a core writer on Holby City for the BBC, winning a BAFTA for Casualty in 2021, the Writers' Guild Award for Best Episode of Continuing Drama, and the MIND Mental Health in Media Award. Her recent work includes Vikings: Valhalla (Netflix/MGM) and The Last Tsars (Netflix), alongside Death in Paradise, Call the Midwife and Riviera; she is currently executive producer and co-writer on Significant Other (ITVX) and series 2 of The Buccaneers (Apple TV).

with Melanie Reiff, a voice coach based in Paris. Course Description:

Do you want to act in English but struggle to sound natural in the language? This 2-day workshop is designed to get you actively practicing pronunciation, rhythm, and flow in a professional, supportive, and fun environment, so you leave with practical exercises for your actor's toolbox. It's for actors and performers with some experience working in English who want to soften their accent, improve their clarity, and learn the nuance of acting in English to prepare for auditions, showcases, or international performing.

What You'll Explore

Morning Day 1: Foundations Understand how the breath, articulators, and vocal tract work together to create sounds. Practice tricky Anglo-vowels, consonants, and "tonic accent" through practical exercises that train your muscles to speak English more naturally.

Afternoon Day 1: Intonation and Flow Building on the morning session, learn how intonation and connected speech impact the rhythm of English and improve clarity and understanding. Focus on how changes in word stress impact meaning. Apply these ideas to simple text and scenes.

Day 2: Applications Review of the exercises from the first day, complete with a vocal workout routine you can use in your daily practice. Prepare and present scenes or monologues with individual coaching and feedback.
